Carmen Sandim's harmonic structures on this record are seriously sophisticated without ever feeling academic. I put it on during a long drive and the whole thing flows like one continuous story.

The way these piano melodies unfold like little stories caught me off guard on the first listen. Sandim's harmonic structures are dense but never showy, and the whole album holds together as one cohesive piece rather than a scattered set of tracks.

Carmen Sandim's harmonic choices on these tracks keep catching me off guard in the best way. I had it on during a rainy Sunday coffee and ended up sitting still through the whole thing. The piano storytelling really does hold together start to finish.
