Hunter Roberts switching between electric and upright bass across these tracks keeps things interesting, especially on the slower numbers. Charles Blenzig's playing fits right into that NYC jazz feel, and JJ Mazza's drumming never overpowers the trio. Been spinning it most evenings since it arrived.

I've had this on repeat all week — Hunter Roberts switching between electric and upright bass gives the whole thing a warm, loose feel that I didn't expect from a trio recording. JJ Mazza's drumming stays crisp without ever crowding the piano. Easily my favorite jazz purchase this year.

Charles Blenzig's playing on this record has this loose, conversational feel I didn't expect from a studio date. JJ Mazza's drumming sits way back in the pocket, which lets the bass lines breathe. Been on repeat all week.
