Decades by Erik Deutsch is self-descriptive, exploring music from decades of jazz. From CTA by Jimmy Heath taking us back to the 50’s, to Erik’s own modern composition, Amor Eterno, this jazz collection covers lively, sultry and everything in between. New York jazz heavy-hitters, Dean Johnson (upright bass) and Tony Mason (drums) join world-touring Erik Deutsch (piano) to make an absolutely stunning album. Recorded and mixed in DSD, Decades is available on SACD and downloads.

Every track feels like

The way this album moves from 50s jazz into modern compositions feels like flipping through a well-curated record collection. Erik's own writing holds its own next to the Heath piece, which surprised me. Been on repeat all week.

Didn't expect the Jimmy Heath CTA piece to hit me like that, but the whole 50s stretch had me rewinding. Nice that it swings into his own modern compositions without feeling stitched together.
